The securities exchange enters the new year with the breeze of a heavenly 2023 at its back. The year finished with the Nasdaq composite making its fifth-best yearly execution. The bounce back was particularly welcome after the record plunged 33.1% in 2022. The Nasdaq is now on track to have two of its best six best years in the current decade, taking into account the 43.6 percent increase in 2020.
That is over two times its verifiable normal yearly return. It also did well after suffering a loss of 19.4% in 2022.
The Nasdaq and S&P 500 rose by 16.8% and 16.2%, respectively, in November and December, respectively, accelerating gains in the stock market. Both indexes recorded their highest monthly gains in November since July 2022. By late-December, the two files and the Dow Jones Modern Normal were at or close to record highs.
